Our Annual General Meeting and Pot Luck Supper took place on Sunday, November 13, 2016

Eveline Teras led us in singing O CANADA and gave the blessing before dinner.
After the dinner we got down to business and President Lucy Valente gave us a report for 2016
Secretary Marilyn Elliott read the minutes from last year’s AGM and also informed us that the votes to change our public name from Gilford & District Horticultural Society to Innisfil Garden Club had been counted and came out in favor of Innisfil Garden Club with 44 to 7.
Treasurer Mary Brown then gave her report
Mona Rea, Chair of the Innisfil Communities in Bloom committee, presented President Lucy Valente with a cheque for $3500.00. The committee is disbanding after 15 years of operation. The cheque is to be applied to the cost of guest speakers at our society meetings.
As Mayor Gord Wauchope was unable to attend Deputy Mayor Lynn Dollin thanked our society for helping beautify Innisfil and our contributions to ‘the quality of life that makes people want to live here’.

Verna Sawyer (last year’s winner) presented Debbie Ryan with the Award for the Best Peony in Show
Mona Rea presented Debbie Ryan with the Award for the Best King Alfred Daffodil
Bob Murrell presented Eveline Teras with the Award for the Best Tulip in Show
The Annual Rose and Flower Show Most Fragrant Rose Award was not awarded this year as we only had one entry – we need three to give out an award
Mario Rea (last year’s winner) presented Jenni Murrell with the Award and Gift Certificate for the Largest Spanish Onion
Linda Becic (last year’s winner) presented Verna Sawyer with the Award for Most Points in Floral Design “B” (Beginner)
Agnes More presented Jenni Murrell with the Award for Most Points in Floral Design “A” (Advanced)
The Best Gladiola Award was not awarded this year as we only had two entries – we need three to give out an award

Kim O’Rourke, not being present at the AGM, will receive her Certificate of Recognition for Excellent Work on the Membership Table at our first meeting in 2017
